Support for macOS app notarization

Apple is going to make application notarization mandatory for 3rd party apps starting January 2020 (click here for more details). This is going to affect Mac versions 10.14.5 and above including the latest macOS Catalina. With the latest release of InstallAnywhere, you can add app notarization support to the installer and it’s payload during the build process. New configuration options are available at Project > Platforms > Mac OS X section

After you add the Developer username and password from your Apple Developer program, the installer and it’s contents will be sent to Apple for notarization during the build process.

Support for Digital Signing from Certificate Store information

With the latest release of InstallAnywhere, you are no longer restricted to just using a .pfx file for digitally signing your installer. You can now use any digital signing information saved to your certificate store to sign your installers. This indirectly enables you to use EV signed certificates as well, by leveraging certificate information saved to the store. New configuration options are now available at Project > Platforms > Windows > Digital Signing.

You can now choose to ‘dual-sign’ your installer using both SHA-1 and SHA-256 digests if your certificate supports both. This makes it more flexible for your installers to run on older Windows platforms where SHA-256 is not supported.

Support for new platforms and Java version

  • Full support for Amazon Corretto OpenJDK 8 and 11 versions has been added. You can create installers that run using these OpenJDK distributions.
  • Installers now support Java 13 distributions of Oracle and OpenJDK
  • We officially support RHEL 8, Cent OS, macOS 10.15, Fedora 21 and Ubuntu 19.04. For a full matrix of supported Java and platforms, refer to our requirements.
