According to Hui Zhang, managing director of NIO Germany GmBH, “The automotive sector is the backbone industry in Germany, and the German automotive industry is a global leader. Germany is also one of the strongest countries in the world when it comes to high-tech automotive products, including autonomous driving technology.”
Perhaps you knew that or perhaps you didn’t. Regardless, it’s no wonder GENIVI has chosen Munich for its All Members Meeting and Open Community Day event May 14-16, and the theme of the event is Multi-OS Integration in the Vehicle Cockpit.
And Flexera will be there.
The automotive industry has a complex software supply chain, especially with new and emerging technology being embedded in today’s cars. Most cars have upwards of 20,000 parts coming from a host of suppliers. Consumers drive the need for more innovation and most are interested in experiencing advanced technology in their day-to-day transportation to enhance the driving experience, increase safety, help manage the complexity of their day through innovative infotainment inside the car, and, for the true automobile enthusiast, that “extra something” is just darn cool. Today, upwards of 70% of the automotive software stack originates in open source.
As open source use continues to rise, effective management of license compliance and security risks becomes increasingly important. Scanning tools like FlexNet Code Insight play a critical role in helping automobile manufacturers and software suppliers know what’s in their code.
More learning about this topic and more will take place at the upcoming meeting. If you’re in Munich and a GENIVI member, and attending the event, you can find Flexera:
- On Wednesday, 15 of May – Demo station at the Showcase and Reception starting at 17:30
- On Thursday, 16 of May – Presentation by Constant Fischer in the “Return of Experience” session titled Production Level DevOps: A Critical Success Factor starting at 15:00 in Studio 7 & 8
