Macrovision Opens FlexNet™ Platform to Software Providers and Enterprises

FlexNet Connector Expands Software Value Management Ecosystem; Third Parties Already Integrating with FlexNet

SANTA CLARA, CA - June 14, 2005 Macrovision Corporation (Nasdaq: MVSN), the leader in Software Value Management, today introduced FlexNet™ Connector, a new offering that enables software publishers, enterprises and third party solution providers to integrate with Macrovision's software value management FlexNet platform. With more than 3,000 software publishers having already shipped $85B of FLEXenabled software and continuing to release over $15B of new FLEXenabled applications every year, FlexNet Connector represents a significant step forward for the overall ecosystem as it provides software developers with a common set of interfaces to leverage the licensing, customer, product and usage data generated by FLEXenabled applications. Several companies have already begun to integrate and utilize FlexNet Connector, including grid technology leader Platform Computing and entitlement management leader Open Channel Systems. "Software application licensing has eclipsed traditional server costs as the dominant portion of an IT budget, with the management and visibility of application license assets becoming increasingly critical to production grid computing deployments," said Peter Nichol, vice president, Electronics, Platform Computing. "Platform Computing and Macrovision's integration through FlexNet Connector is imperative to integrate FLEXenabled license assets with our workload management. The new solution provides the highest degree of license awareness and control, allowing our mutual customers dynamic allocation of application licenses based on business and development project priorities to optimize their existing grid computing implementations."

"With FlexNet Connector, we can tap directly into Macrovision's leading FlexNet platform and provide a full suite of license lifecycle capabilities to customers who are using FLEXenabled applications," said Ed Rose, president and CEO of Open Channel Solutions. "By working more closely with Macrovision, software publishers and their partners and customers can more effectively define and manage software deployments and ensure licenses are being optimized for everyone's benefit."

FlexNet is the world's leading Software Value Management (SVM) platform and the de facto standard in software licensing. Hundreds of software publishers and enterprises have already been tapping into FlexNet information such as license usage data through interfaces developed in-house. The new FlexNet Connector will simplify this process and enable the overall ecosystem to flourish, thanks to the new standards-based interfaces.

"FlexNet Connector will play an integral role in helping both software vendors and enterprises drive maximum value from software," said Daniel Stickel, EVP and GM of Macrovision's Software Technologies Group. "As more flexible pricing and licensing software models continue to gain market traction, our Software Value Management solutions serve as an important industry standard and key business driver. By enabling third party providers to plug directly into our platform, Connector helps both our partners and our customers deliver flexible licensing capabilities to their customers through integrated SVM products."
